Creations by Jayne

I thought today I would show you the things my children made me for Mothers day. I think they might just follow in my footsteps as I have a love for all things handmade. I used to make Jewellery as a Teen and then I taught myself to make Tiaras, I’ve dabbled in most crafts cardmaking, salt Dough, beading, painting, Knitting,Cross stitch & quilting but Scrapbooking has lasted the longest. My Eldest Daughter regulary scraps & the youngest one loves it too the middle daughter doesn’t like it but there’s still hope .

My middle daughter painted me the canvas above using watercolours, she didn’t like it but I love it. She’s only 14 and wants to take Art in her options at school.

My Youngest daughter made me her card at school, it’s supposed to be Blossom on a tree but I thought it was a cake ! Ooops ! Maybe she was a little rushed !

Did your children make you handmade gifts this year ?

I have also made a card but didn’t send it as I didn’t think it was Girlie enough (It could be changed quite easy to a DAD card for later in the year !!!!)  I used the Fiskars Apron Lace Border punch & The Scalloped Square & Circle large Squeeze Punches. 2 coloured papers, a sticker alpha and a button.

Morning Fiskarettes , Hope you all had a lovely Weekend.

I have made a little Spring coloured box and it matches my craft room. thought i could pop some little eggs in there and when my children come in and see me I can give them a treat. I couldn’t sew anything as I left my Needles at work but might sew all the componants another time to make them a little more robust.

I had a Fabric box hanging around for ages. It was getting a little grubby so I painted it with Acrylic White paint then left to dry.

Next I traced around ‘flowers’ Shapecutter Template onto Felt, If you dot the pen rather than draw like you would on paper it won’t scag so much on the felt. You should have a flower like this….

Make another flower the same way. I’ve used the same Template but a different flower and layered it underneath the other felt flower. Two Leaves drawn and cut the same way plus  centre with a button. These can be glued with Fabric glue or your preferred craft glue.

The box I’ve cut 2 x 12″ strips for the lid and two for the base as a 12″ strip didnt quite go round. Punch with a Border punch I’ve used Fiskars Apron Lace Border Punch Add very sticky glue…My ATG gun is really sticky or you could use extra strong DST or Glue dot strips perhaps ! Glue the strips round trying to match up the ends (over lap them slightly)

Ther you have it a pretty little box.

I have had this little chipboard house kit for a long time and never done anything with it. So today I decided to actually use it

I have covered the roof in strips punched out with the Fiskars Apron Lace Border Punch

I have made a Rose using the Scalloped Circle Squeeze punch and i brushed a inkpad over the faux tiles to make them stand out.

I’ve covered the Chipboard pieces in various green coloured papers. The Embroidery Scissors were ideal for snipping the window panels and door panels out neatly.

I don’t ever call myself a Card maker but I have a go for special occasions :)  I like a Simple ‘Scrapbooky’ look rather than a really complicated card, I’ll leave that to other craftersÂ

I have simply cut out 5 larger hearts and 5 smaller hearts using the Fiskars Shape cutter plus and cutting mat & the Hearts Template.

I have doodled stitches around all the hearts. Next punch a Medium circle using the Squeeze circle punch doodle this too.

Cut a piece of patterned paper 2cms smaller than your card approx this should leave you with a 1cm border all around. Doodle this piece to around the outside edge & then glue onto a card blank.

Now glue the 5 larger hearts onto the card to form a flower shape. NOTE: I’ve not stuck the whole heart down as I have curled the tops a little with my fingers to add a little more 3D to the card.

Do the same with the 5 smaller hearts. it doesn’t matter if they don’t meet in the middle this will be covered with the circle.

Finish off matting a little rectangle and adding stickers or a die cut.

The card is finished. I hope you share your Mothers day creations with us too x

Hiya Fiskarettes

Today  I thought I’ld show you my First ever Scrapbooking page and I hope it will inspire you to show me your first and last so we can all see how you have progressed ! The smaller photo is a L/O from my previous post. The first L/O is rather plain and I added Keiras hand print at home using clear ink & I embossed it lol !!! I am thinking how many tools and paper I have now up to what I had to start off(shocking) But also just a simple little border punch just helps lift the L/O and won’t break the bank.Â

I started Scrapbooking when my youngest daughter was born 4 years ago. I went to a class with my eldest daughter as I was too scared to go alone and a lady called Mandy taught a double paged Layout above the Modscraps shop in Bristol…I was hooked from then on. It was all the rage to make double pages back then but I rarely make them now !

I think the reason I have kept this hobby going for so long is the people I meet Oh and my love of taking photos of the girls even if they don’t like it lol ! I love my Scrapbooking friends and am always meeting New Crafters along the way. I now teach a little myself and still go to the Scrapbooking Crop that was joined onto the shop I had my first class at (though the owner has changed hands now) I’m known for not creating as much as I should at the crops because I chat and shop too much

So anyway show US your first and last craft project and post it for all the Fiskarettes to see

I’ve have a little tiny piece of fabric a lady gave me as she knew I loved Russian dolls. I never knew what to do with it as it is only a little piece. I needed a Air freshener to put in the car so thought I’ld make my own. Seeing Carolines owl I just had the urge to sew (my friends might be shocked ) I dusted the sewing machine off and away I went. It’s only simple but its useful and creative

First I was going to make a doll shape but it was a little too small so I decided to draw around the largest square shape with pencil using the Fiskars Shapecutter ‘Squares’ Template but the material was folded over double so one of the edges was placed on the fold this formed a rectangle piece of fabric. (photo below) Cut round the pencil lines.

I then cut a shape out from my patterned fabric it was a Russian doll so really easy to cut out using Scissors. I tacked the doll on the plain material front, then I sewed around the edges of the doll with my machine in zigzag stitch. I then took the tacking off.

Then I sewed the front and back of the squares together right sides facing adding a loop of ribbon inside too (See photo below) Also leave a little gap to fit filling in. Turn right way out.

I put crushed pot pourri in the middle as I couldn’t think what else I had to fill it. I then sewed the gap up using a straight stitch with my machine and then sprayed the back of the cushion with vanilla oils too !

It is very simple but a very personal Car freshener. You could add anything to your freshener, Felt flowers, doodle shape, or just pretty fabric maybe buttons or a huge blossom…. Go and have fun and create a little piece of art that lots and lots of people might see passing your car  x

As you may or may not know I taught a class at a local Charity fund raising crop a week or so ago. The lovely ladies raised well over £700 in aid of St Peters Hospice. There was so much to do throughout the day and evening (Raffles, classes, kits) we all had great fun and I was honoured to be asked to teach there again.

We used A Trimmer and the Fiskars Sunburst border punch & lots of hand cutting with Scissors I think everybody enjoyed the class. They might not of been impressed with all the hand cutting I gave them though xxx

I thought I would make something with the Competition sketch  hopefully to inspire you to have a go and enter our Competition. I first thought I’ld make a card (maybe I still will !) But I had some papers that reminded me of the 1970’s so I then decided to scrap a very rare photo of me as a Toddler ! I’ve tweeked the sizes of the paper pieces a little but a Sketch is there to Inspire you and you could change a lot or a little long as you used some of the original sketch somewhere !!! Things can be left off , Jiggled about or sizes and/or amounts changed. A sketch is a guide to inspire you.

First I’ve choosen a Die cut base Then I’ve cut 2 strips 12″ x 1″ One of the strips I’ve punched with Apron Lace border punch. Glue these along the page approx 2″ from the bottom. One above the other.

Ive cut a square 7″ x 7″ square this was enlarged from original sketch as then I could fit the photo on. The corners are rounded & I’ve inked the edges. Glue this to the right facing side just over lapping one of the strips.

I’ve cut a large circle using the Circles Template and the Shapecutter Plus & Mat. Plus 4 scalloped circles that have been punched with the Scalloped Circle Squeeze punch. These are aranged on the left side of the top corner of the 7″ mat and glued when happy with the placing.

Glue the photo down.

Cut a white strip of paper approx 1cm wide , journal onto the strip & trim into smaller strips. Ink edges & Glue onto the largest circle. A small piece was cut the same for the date.

Add a title (I used white chipboard)
