Garden Layout ~ By Jayne Loughlin

by Jayne & Caroline

Hiya Fiskarettes. I’m sending my love to all the mums who’s kids go back to school & lots of luck to all the children going back tooÂ

I have used a Fiskars Circle Squeeze Punch to create a patchwork feel to my Layout. It gives a raised effect.

I’ve also stamped onto plain flowers with red ink and Fiskars Stamps so the flowers compliment the layout too.

Hope you like x

Hiya

I hope you didn’t miss the Challenge yesterday too much I have created a layout using just Cardstock. I thought OMG what am I doing here as I was cutting pieces out & it looked a bit trashy but it all came into place in the end & I quite liked the effect.

ITEMS NEEDED:

Cardstock (3 sheets and some scraps), ShapeCutter plus, Mat, Heart Template, Adhesive, Scissors, Thin Journal pen, tiny circle punch, Needle & Thread.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1.For a guide draw around your photo onto a piece of Cardstock lightly with a pencil to show you where to cut with the shape Cutter or more to the point where not to cut. Then cut 3 Rectangle Frames using the Shapecutter Plus & mat Freehand & cutting the outside line out side the pencil mark & the inside inside the pencil mark.

2.I also sewed around the two lighter frames with Blue thread for a bit of interest but if you hate sewing you could Journal stitches or even leave this step out.

3.I found the ShapeCutter a lot more easier to cut the middle section out than Scissors as you don’t have to punch holes to start off. Glue the photos onto the back of the Frames and trim if nessersary.

4.I also cut a large piece of cardstock approx 14cms x 12cms in Blue for a Journal box just Scallop the edges using the ShapeCutter again. I cut a little cloud too to add the date but I used Scissors. I wrote on this after I glued it into place.

5.Cut 2 small Hearts using the ShapeCutter Template this time & 4 next size up from the same Template.

6.Next I punched lots of Tiny Circles out of the off cuts of the cardstock & Journaled onto them to create Mock Buttons. All the Frames I Journaled a thin line around the edge & the same with the Hearts.

7.When you have all your pieces you can arrange on your layout and Glue down. I had 3 Frames with photos in, 33 Buttons, 2 Journal boxes, 4 Larger Hearts & 2 smaller ones. Layer the Frames Diagonally, tuck Journal boxes behind, Add the Hearts randomly fitting into gaps. Glue all the Buttons around the Frames and into the centre of the Hearts.

8.The Alpha title I just drew the letters with the Journal pen in Bubble writing, Cut round with Scissors & glued them on the layout onto the bottom left facing corner.

It sounds alot of steps but it is really easy & a very cheap Layout indeed .. Go on try creating a Layout with just Cardstock ..You’ll have fun

WOW! I can’t believe it’s almost September…where has the time gone?! And you know what that means, don’t you? Yep, it’s my last DT post here on the Fiskarettes blog :’( I’ve had SUCH a blast these last three months making lots of things with wonderful Fiskars products! Thank you SO much to Caroline and Jayne for giving me the great opportunity to be a part of this amazing team, and for their never-ending support throughout my time on the team. And also, a massive thank you to all you fab Fiskarettes for checking out my projects and leaving comments, and for posting your own super inspiring stuff!

Right…on to the project!

I’ve got a lot of christenings, birthdays and weddings coming up in the next month, which means I’ll be having to get lots of little gifts. Now, I like to give my gifts a hand-made feel if I can. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to make the gift itself. Oh no. What about the gift wrap? Here’s some super easy instructions to get creative with your gift wrapping…

1. Using your Fiskars trimmer, cut a piece of patterned paper down to just a bit larger than the gift you’re going to be wrapping. (I put my gift in a little Kraft gift box from Paperchase, as it’s easier to wrap that way.) Wrap the gift with the paper.

2. Trim two strips of cardstock of differing colours, making one slightly thinner in width that the other. Punch each strip along both long edges with your favourite Fiskars border punches (I used the Boundary Water and Effervescence border punches). Glue the thinner strip on top of the thicker strip, and adhere around the middle of the gift.

3. Tie ribbon or baker’s twine around the gift, and secure in a bow on the top of the gift.

4. Create a fun accent to stick on top by punching out some shapes from different coloured cardstock using your favourite Fiskars squeeze punches and layering the shapes one on top of the other (I used the Extra Large Scalloped Square and the Medium Star and Large Star punches). Use a glue dot to adhere over the top of the bow on the top of your gift. Alternatively, you could use the accent you’ve made as a gift tag.

And that’s it. Pretty quick, super easy, and very fun! I think it just makes a gift look extra special, don’t you agree?

Well, that’s all from me! I can’t wait to see the new DT…I hope they enjoy their time on the team as much as I have, and I’m sure you’ll love seeing all their fun projects!

This is my fabric project, it’s a Christmas List note book,to jot down gift ideas for family and friends. I always struggle to remember when I’ve seen something suitable I tend to forget what it was and where I saw it! I found this scrap of poinsettia fabric I’d bought a couple of years ago. I glued it to some card and then cut out the flowers. I die cut chipboard tags, covered both sides with gold card then glitter glued the edges. Glued on the flowers, added the gold beads and the central rub ons.I added the ribbon to hold it all together. Apologies for the poor photos.

Get your Border Punches out !

by Jayne & Caroline

Good morning again Fiskarettes, I hope you are well

Today I’m using lots of scraps from a Chipboard book I am decorating and cutting lots of strips using my 2 in 1 Corner punches but you could use a huge assortment of border punches Have a look HERE & HERE to see many more

You will need : 6×4″ photo, An assortment of long pattern paper offcuts, 1 x 12″ cardstock, Border punches-(I’ve used: BRAID, ROSES & VINES ) Scissors, Trimmer, Adhesive, Bling (opt) & that is it !

Instructions: First you need to punch a few strips using your Border punches, I’ve cut varying widths & lengths random & Scallop edged one larger piece using Scissors, I’ve laid them on my Cardstock base to photograph them easier.

Next arange the pieces in a ‘L Shape ‘ onto your Cardstock base show below…When you are happy with the arangement Glue the pieces down.

First glue your photo onto the corner of the ‘L Shape’ You could use two photos too !

Write Journalling onto strips approx 1cm wide & cut words out. Glue next to the photos.

I’ve cut a cloud freehand and some raindrops just to fill up the corner space. You could leave this blank of cut a shape relevant to your page.

Hope you go and use your scraps & have fun using Border strips
