2010
My project for this challenge was put to one side this weekend because as soon as I started playing with my Maya Mist my daughter Abi decided they would be perfect for her Art assignment!
Abi is 17 (on countdown to 18 – her birthday is 9th October and she reminds me every day how long we have left, lol) and is studying Fine Art at College and her current project is to make three books, each one a different style. She has decided on a garden theme and one of the books is going to be a children’s pop-up book.
Abi decided on a basic bound book with a pop-up flower on every page. For the front cover though she used some Maya Mist. We grabbed an old shoe box, placed the book inside and sprayed blue as the base colour and a little green and silver over the top. The good thing with Maya Mist is you only need a little of the spray as the colour is so intense, I love it and I think I have now converted Abi! She is not a crafter but loves anything to do with inks and paints for her drawings, paintings, etc.
I let her loose on my Prima Alphas and flowers and the above is what she did. I think its very sweet for a childrens book and her idea for the pop-up flowers is fantastic – if she doesn’t mind I will show you the finished book soon – she has only done the front cover so far. She has had the project brief since June…..nothing like last minute is there! Like mother like daughter, lol…..
