Candle Holder
by Beadmad
You will need:
Fiskars Flat Needle Nosed Pliers
Fiskars Multi-purpose scissors
Wire Mesh
Beads
Coloured beads
Alcohol inks ( I used Stream, Stonewashed and Denim, with a touch of Wild Plum)
Variegated 6 stranded embroidery thread
Put the mesh on the smooth side of the mat and apply the alcohol inks until you have the colour and patterning you like.
Using the oval template decide on the size of the base you need for your candle and draw around it.

Using the scissors ( I keep a separate pair for cutting mesh and use the Fiskars Scissor Sharpener to keep them sharp) cut around the template.
Cut a long strip about 2” wide.
Using the embroidery thread stitch the base to the side. Once you’re almost round trim the end so that the sides overlap slightly.

Cut three lengths from the remaining strip so they taper, using the wire mandrel shape the ends. Stitch to the candle holder using wire and seed beads to hold them in place.
Take a length of wire and attach to the inside of the candle holder, push the wire to the outside and add a bead, then weave the wire in and out adding a bead on the outside until you get back to the beginning.

Here it is with a candle in it.
Do try this, it’s great fun and don’t forget to share your creations with us.
