For my Design Team project this week I’ve been trying to find some more fun things to do with Fiskar’s punches. I’ve been playing with shrink plastic to create some dangly earrings.

I used a Fiskars Scalloped Square Squeeze Punch to punch two squares of black artist grade shrink plastic, and a Fiskars Eyelet Setting Tool to punch out a large size hole in the corner of each square. I then used a stamp from the Fiskars Clear mini stamps – Decorative set,  to stamp a pattern on the squares using a gold brilliance ink. You have to be careful not to touch the pattern at this stage as it will smudge easily.

I used a heat tool to shrink the squares down – the heat also sets the ink, so they are safe to handle after shrinking, and the pattern is brighter and more intense.

Next I selected some beads to go on the earrings – as I can never find any jewellery to wear with pink, I went for a mix of various shades of that colour. I threaded the beads onto an eyepin, and created a turned loop at the top. Then I simply used jump rings to attach the beads to an earring wire at the top and to the black squares at the bottom.

If you’re not into jewellery these shrunk plastic scallops can also be used to make charms for your scrapbook pages or cards in whatever colours you need and with all sorts of great stamped images.
