Funky Flower (Fiskars DT 24th June 2009)
You will need
Fabric
Needle and thread
Narrow ribbon
505 (temporary adhesive spray)
Beads
Felt
Brooch back
Did you know that you can use your shape cutter and templates to cut fabric?
Choose your fabric, take a sheet of copy paper and spray it with temporary adhesive (I used 505) and stick your fabric to it. The paper gives you a firm surface and you can cut the fabric easily
Taking the ovals template cut out 5 petals.
Using flowers 2 cut out 3 leaves.
Take a length of ribbon and pleat it, stitch at the bottom. I used the needle threader from the sewing multi-tool, which speeds up threading your needle.
Peel the paper off the fabric, pinch the bottom of the petals and stitch.
Arrange the petals to your liking and stitch together.
Stitch the pleated ribbon in the middle and surround with beads.
Stitch the leaves into place.
Cut a circle of felt and stitch to the back to stiffen the flower, stitch the brooch back in place.
I used mine to decorate my sun hat but you could also wear it as a brooch or decorate a bag with it.
If you make yourself one don’t forget to share with us how it turned out.
