Using the Fiskars’ templates and Shapecutter plus you can make yourself lots of mini books in various shapes and sizes to house your photographs, artwork or even favourite recipes.  Here are two different ways to make a book with a scalloped edge.

What you will need :-

Fiskars Circle Template

Fiskars cutting mat

Fiskars Shapecutter plus

Fiskars drill and 3mm drill bit.

Black cardstock

White cardstock

Bookring

Adhesive

cut-out-shapes

First of all cut 8 x 3.5in circles and 8 x 1.5in circles from your cardstock.

add-small circle

Stick one smaller circle shape to one of the larger circle shapes as shown.

layering

When you have eight completed pieces, layer them one on top of the other moving each shape round slightly to form the scallop shaped edge.

hold with bulldog clip

When you have layered all eight pieces on top of one another hold the pieces together with one or two bulldog clips.

drill hole

Then using the Fiskars craft drill with the 3mm drill bit inserted drill a hold about 1/2 cm in from the edge of the top circle.

add bookring

Insert your book ring through the hole.  You can remove your book ring to decorate each page or decorate before drilling, this is an individual choice.

If you prefer each page to be scalloped follow the directions below :-

Cut out  2 x 3.5in  and 8 x1.5 in circle shapes for each page.

alternative book

Adhere the smaller circles to the edge of the larger circular shape as shown.

layer circles

Continue adding the shapes slightly overlapping the edges until all eight shapes are used.

mini book

When all the edge shapes are added, glue the second large circular shape on top.  You will now have a double sided page with scalloped edges.  Once you have completed all of the pages you wish to have in your book follow the steps above for adding your book ring.

I’d love to see your completed mini book so if you make one don’t forget to come back and share it with us in the gallery :)

Happy Creating

Chris xx
