Monday Challenge – Texture
by jennifergrace
When I saw that this week’s Monday challenge was to use texture, I immediately thought of some texture gels I had hiding in a cupboard (see below). I bought them ages ago to use with my acrylic paintings, but haven’t used them in ages as I do more papercrafting now. So I dug them out and used them on the flower on this card.
The bottom flower layer was brown patterned paper, and I coated it with the white ‘medium texture gel’, and the top flower petals were pink paper which has been coated with the ‘pumice texture gel’. They both give a feel like sandpaper, but look a lot prettier! I like the contrast of this texture with the soft lace trim behind the flower.
The card is a 5×7″ gold card base, with ‘wild asparagus’ My Mind’s Eye paper stuck on top. The sentiment was stamped using a journal stamp from the Fiskars scrapbook clear stamp set for the background, and studio G alpha stamps for the words. The lace trim is stitched on using a sewing machine, and then the green dotty leaves (punched using the Fiskars leaf squeeze punch) were glued on using copydex. Finally I glued the flower on, and used a foam dot to stick on a button image stamped from the Fiskars scrapbook clear stamp set.
The card is for my sister-in-law, who’s birthday is next weekend. I hope she likes it! xxx
