Little box of goodies
by slcarringtonHow many of you have a stack of little boxes you are saving to “alter”. If you are like me, you will have lots of them just hanging about waiting to be used for craft purposes.
So here is a simple project that utilises a 2″ former ring box, lots of scrap patterned paper (PP)and journalling tags.
To start, slightly sand your box. This helps paint or PP stick better.
Next take a rangers dabber and paint around all the edges. This means you just dont have to be that perfect when cutting your PP.
Next cut your PP scraps to fit each face for the box and each face/top for the lid. As I was using scraps, I coordinated the colours but each face was a different PP.
Next I cut a fringe to go around the top of each face on the box. For this is used a Fiskars Threading Water Punch (UK Version – Scalloped Lace).
Next its time to decorate the lid. I added a hand cut heart and small journalling tags before punching two holes in the lid with a Big Bite and tying an overlarge bow.
Once the lid was complete, I glued a pom pom trim around the bottom edge.
Next its the book.
I cut two pieces of mountboard to make the sturdy covers, again they are small 2 x 2. I decorated in matching PP and added more journalling cards.
I also cut plain Card stock (CS) pages.
To assemble I arranged a CS page, then PP page then journal tag to produce a layered look ready for adding photo’s or journalling.
And there you go, a quick simple project using all the things you are likely to have hanging around the craft room.
