victorian scrapbook

Scrapbooking, as we know it, has roots back in Victorian times where the ladies of the house would spend some of their time recording their crafts, writing down their favourite poems and recording their memories of the day.

I found a lovely little site which details different aspects of the Victorian crafts and gives a better understanding of how scrapbooking came about.  Its made me reconsider how I want my memories preserved and I am keen to do some more abstract pages of bits and pieces of memories as well as the more polished and put together pages.

Make yourself a cuppa and have a click through the website – its lovely…x

If you are interested in Victoriana then this is a fab site HERE.

Each link on the right hand side provides further links going into detail about the chosen subject.  On Crafts for instance, you can see the cover of a scrapbook album put together by a Victorian child!

Its truly fascinating and I got lost within these two websites last night/early morning – there really is so much to see!  I hope you enjoy looking too…x

These are lovely. I used to buy scraps from the newsagent as a child and stick them in those sugar paper scrapbooks. I always liked the Victorian looking little girls.
