I saw something similar to this owl in a recent copy of Simply Handmade and thought it would be perfect for this weeks challenge.
* * * * * *
Cut out three circles, using the ShapeCutter Template-Circles, as a stencil.
Two circles in the same fabric – this is the front and back and a different fabric for the wings.
* * * * * *
Cut the wing fabric in half.
* * * * * *
Place on top of one of the other circles and cut out the wing. Using the circle as a template you can ensure that the wing will fit properly when you sew together.
I then trimmed both wings with Fiskars Pinking Shears for a more ruffled look.
* * * * * *
Sew the two circles together. Also the wings and a small piece of ribbon for hanging.
Leave a gap and stuff with wadding. Sew the hole.
* * * * * *
Add buttons for the eyes and small triangles for the ears and beak.
I then added flowers and seed beads to the bottom. Ollie the Owl is now hanging next to some little bird houses…..
