bracelet and brooch

Making jewellry from sheets of ready made felt is a fun and easy thing to do.  You can make a variety of unusual brooches and bracelets by changing the shapes you use and adding a little bit of imagination.

To make this brooch and bracelet you will need :-

Fiskars flower shape template.

Fiskars scissors.

Embroidery needle and embroidery thread.

Sewing needle and sewing thread (or fabric glue)

1 Sheet sticky backed white felt

1 sheet sticky backed black felt

1 sheet black felt (without sticky back)

Dressmaking pins

Brooch back

Press stud or stick and sew velcro

First of all cut a piece of black felt from the non-sticky sheet approx 22cm x 7cm.  Fold this in half and pin edges together.  Using blanket stitch sew around all four sides.

blanket stitch edge

Using your Fiskars flower template on the reverse side of your sticky backed felt sheets, draw four of the daffodil shapes using the white felt and four of the daisy shapes using the black felt along with 2 centre pieces  Cut out all of the shapes with your scissors.

Using template for shapes

Remove the adhesive backing from the shapes and stick two of the black daisy shapes together and two of the white daffodil shapes together.  (don’t worry if they are not perfectly aligned you can cut off any overlapping sticky pieces)  Peel off the backing from the centre circle and place in the centre of the white flower shape. Repeat this step with the pieces you have left.

flower shapes

Layer the pieces on top of one another and sew together in the centre.  I added a circle of blanket stitch to the centre of my flowers but this is optional. You could add beads and or fabric paints instead.  If you prefer not to sew your flower pieces together you could use fabric glue.

assembled flower

Finally once you have your assembled flower shapes,  attach one to the end of your bracelet by sewing or glueing, adding a press stud or piece of stick and sew velcro as a fastener,  measuring  the bracelet on your wrist to decide where you need the fastener to be.

Sew a brooch jewellry finding to the reverse of your other completed flower and your project is complete.

Happy creating
