DT Project – Trio of Cards
by Giselleby DT member Giselle

A trio of cards is my final contribution as a Design Team member. I’d like to say a big thank you once again for the opportunity to be part of the team for the last three months. I’d recommend trying out for the DT to everyone – if you haven’t applied already, give it a go, it’s a lot of fun! And thank you to everyone who left all the lovely comments too
CARD 1 ‘Eat Cake’

Cut a piece of patterned paper slightly shorter than the depth of the card base and punch the top and bottom edge, I used the Sunburst Border Punch.
Glue this to the base.
Add a length of thin ribbon just along the punched borders, top and bottom.
Using the Fiskars ShapeCutter & the Cupcakes template, cut the 2 pieces required for the cupcake shape from co-ordinating paper and plain cardstock. Ink the edges if required.
Add another length of thin ribbon round the base of the cake and then glue both pieces to the patterned paper.
Add a rub-on greeting below the cupcake.
Embellish with gems.

CARD 2 ‘For You’

Cut a piece of patterned paper to the size required for the card and punch along the opening edge, I used the Scalloped Lace Border Punch.
Ink all the edges if required.
Using the Fiskars ShapeCutter & the Tags and Brackets Template, cut a journalling tag using contrasting patterned paper and ink the edges.
Glue this to the centre of the card base.
Add a length of ribbon across the width of the card just below the centre.
Using the Fiskars ShapeCutter and the Cupcakes template, cut a flower shape from plain cardstock and ink the edges.
Glue this to the centre of the ribbon with 2 other contrasting flowers and finish with a large gemstone brad.
Add the greeting using sparkly letter stickers.

CARD 3 ‘Happy Birthday’
Make the base of the card using a patterned paper
Cut a slightly smaller piece of plain paper & glue this to the card base.
Using the Fiskars ShapeCutter & the Cupcakes template, cut just the top of a cupcake piece from some embossed white card.
Draw a line around the shape using a silver gel pen.
Cut a piece of patterned cardstock 6″ long x 2″ high & score/fold at 0.25″ intervals to make the base of the cake. As you fold it, curve the 2 outside edges slightly inwards and upwards, imitating the curved shape of the base of a cake case. Trim the lower edge into a curve if necessary.
Using a fast-drying wet glue, attach this to the card – spread the glue along the folds and hold the shape in place until it’s glued down – you’ll need both hands!
Glue the embossed cake top over the top edge of the pleated ‘cake case’ using foam pads.
Embellish with pearl gems.
Use the Fiskars Scalloped Circle Squeeze Punch to make a tag and add the greeting using rub-ons or small stickers.
Tie a length of chiffon ribbon into a bow, tie the tag to the bow and glue it to the cupcake.
Add a trim of punched paper along the top and decorate with dots using a silver gel pen.
