Cover your bare chipboard shapes with papers to co-ordinate with the colour scheme of your Scrapbook page. It’s quite simple to do and although there are lots of ways to use chipboard and indeed add colour to it,  including using inks and paints, this is one of my favourite ways. It can be a little fiddly depending on the size of the shape you use but well worth it if you like matching embellishments on your Scrapbook pages or indeed on your other projects.

The Fiskars tool taxi has a multitude of uses and this is just one of them. I will be sharing more with you at a later date. You will find glue and an applicator at one end of the tool which you can use directly onto your chosen shape.Â

Once you have covered your shape with the adhesive place it right side down onto your chosen paper.

Allow the adhesive to dry and then use the craft blade included in your Tool Taxi to carefully cut around your shape. Ensure that your blade is sharp and if not then change it as a blade that is going blunt will cause you paper to drag and buckle as you attempt to cut it.

Use the same method to use up your scraps and create a different look but apply the glue both to the shape and the overlapping pieces of paper. Once again cut out your shape once the adhesive is thoroughly dry. This is more important while using your paper this way. When you have finished cutting out your shape use an emery board or sanding block (depending on the size of your chipboard shape) to smooth the edges or to take back some of the paper to create a more distressed look.

Don’t throw away the piece of paper you have left after cutting out your shape… use it as a stencil with ink or paint by holding the shape down and dabbing the inner area with your chosen medium on a layout or other project.

If your flower has a centre like mine, you can use the middle cut out piece as a stencil too. Place the shape on an area of your page and hold it with your fingers while you dab ink over it…when you remove your shape you will be left with a negative of it on your page. If you use paint then brush from the centre out towards the edge so that you don’t force paint underneath or your shape will not be as well defined.
I hope that I have inspired you to try this yourself and would love to see your layouts if you do… so don’t forget to come and share them with me
Happy creating
Chris xx
