Fiskarette Spotlight - Karen50
by Jayne & CarolineHere is a new Wednesday feature! And you could be next, haha!
I sent Fiskarette Karen50 a few crafty and fun questions in order for us all to get to know the people who visit this site a little better - in addition to the Members Space - and Karen very kindly answered them and sent a few pics too. Thanks Karen!

What crafting techniques do you prefer most? I love stamping most of all. You can get some lovely images out there and it’s amazing just how versatile they are too. Of course playing with paper would have to be next!!! The thrill of seeing a beautiful piece of paper and knowing you have to have it is second to none hehe
What colours do you like to create with? It all depends on my mood or who I am crafting for but I do love toning colours rather than clashing. Probably purple has to be my fave colour.
Other than crafting, what do you like to do in your spare time? Spend time with my hubby. He is a very busy man so we make the effort to go out to eat at least once a week. It doesn’t have to be anywhere special but its like having a date!
What is on your craft desk at the moment? Too much! hahahahahaha. But pride of place is a new picture of my niece Milly who is 18mths.
What are your favourite TV programmes? At the moment I am enjoying the remake of ‘Survivors’ but I like anything in the genre of ‘Silent Witness’.
What is your favourite quote or poem? My favourite poem is one that I found in my Dads wallet after he died. He had carried it around since it was given to him as a schoolboy by a teacher. I am sure it helped him enormously.
STATE OF THE MIND
If you think you are beaten you are
If you think you dare not you don’t
If you’d like to win, but think you can’t
Its almost a cinch you won’t.
If you think you’ll lose, you’ve lost
For out in the world you find
Success begins with a fellows will.
Its all in the state of the mind.
Full many a race is lost
Ere ever a step is run
And many a coward fails
Ere ever his works begun.
Think big and your deeds will grow
Think small and you’ll fall behind
Think that you can and you will
Its all in the state of mind.
If you think you’re outclassed you are,
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.
Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man
But sooner or later the man who wins
Is the fellow who thinks he can.

Which craft or technique do you want to try next, or do you have any you wish to perfect or pursue further? I have been crafting since I was little and have tried most things but I would like to do some felting, as in a big enough piece to make things with rather than needle felting. But there are so many things out there that I haven’t tried. I would love to learn to tatt but my eyesight isn’t up to it.
Where is your favourite holiday destination? Has to be Australia where a lot of my family are and where I lived till I was five…..it’s another home for me.
What do you like most about Christmas? The feeling of warmth that everyone seems to get in their hearts for everyone else…wish it would last.
Can you please show us one of your most favourite crafting projects? Yes, it’s an A-Z of Jeremy’s (my hubby) life and all that he has done and is doing. I so enjoyed it, though it took me a year….2 pages a month!

Thanks again Karen! I love that poem and certainly something to make you think.
Your A-Z book is fantastic! What a lot of work has gone into that. I bet Jeremy loves it….x
What a lovely insight into one of our regular Fiskarettes. Now who can be next?……..hehe…..x

I enjoyed reading all about Karen, some of it I knew already, but I just wanted to say what the bit that Karen can’t say, but that everyone who has met her knows. Karen is a fantastic person, generous to a fault, fun and funny. It was such a pleasure to finally meet up with her and Jeremy at the NEC. Hurrah for Karen!

Lovely photo there Karen. I can second that Farmersgirl. Karen is a very lovely lady who I have met a couple of times and is always friendly and smiley. Her work is an inspiration and I’m glad to say I have some of her creations here. I am particular fond of the 12 days of Christmas book I won on the Bubbly Funk Think Pink Auction back in October.
Interesting feature this Jayne and Caroline.
This is a lovely idea, it’s really nice to learn a bit more about each other. Love the A-Z book Karen, that must have been a real labour of love, it’s fantastic.
Nicki, xx.
Hi Karen,
Thank you for allowing us to get to know you better.
Love the photo and you suit the colour purple.
A great Idea with the A-Z.
Fabulous poem ..How do I know the story about that poem being given to your dad by a teacher and being found in your dads wallet all those years later.
Take care
