Fiskarette Spotlight - Littleted62
by Jayne & CarolineThis weeks Fiskarette Spotlight is with Nicki Moss - Fiskarette ID, Littleted62!!

What are your favourite craft techniques?
I’m an avid card-maker and scrap-booker, and my favourite technique is rubber stamping, especially images you can stamp then colour with markers or watercolours. I also love to experiment with kinetic elements like waterfall cards, spinner cards, hidden pockets, etc., I like things that have some movement to them.  Oh, and die-cuts, I love using those… and printed background papers… and… you know what, I love so many techniques it’s probably easier to say which is my least favourite and that’s decoupage – I just don’t have the patience (or the eyesight) for all that fiddly cutting out.
How often do you craft?
I try to fit in a little bit every day if I can, even if it’s just half an hour before bed.
Do you have a favourite time of the day dedicated to crafting?
I work full-time so I usually craft in the evenings and on weekends, but I do sometimes get up extra early and spend an hour at my craft table before setting off for work – I seem to get my best ideas at 6:30 in the morning!
What is on your craft desk at the moment?
I’m usually quite a tidy crafter but because I’ve been concentrating on Christmas cards there is just a jumble of stamps, punches, ribbons, stickers – anything and everything Christmassy that could possibly be incorporated into a card! Once I’ve finished them all I will pack it all in a big box and put it away until next year, so I can get back to being a bit more organised.
Have you made anything for Christmas? Can you show us?
I’m quite pleased with the card I’ve made for my friend Julie but she’s a Fiskarette too so I’m afraid I can’t show you that yet! Here are a few of my other cards though…

Do you have a favourite quote or poem?
My favourite poem is called ‘Warning’ by Jenny Joseph – I just love the idea of getting old disgracefully!
Warning
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn’t go, and doesn’t suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we’ve no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I’m tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people’s gardens
And learn to spit.
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.
But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Any hints or tips you would pass on to anyone else?
One of my craft tips is to keep a small crate near your workspace full of plastic wallets to save all your offcuts of card and paper in. Everyone knows crafters never throw anything away and you never know when those little pieces will come in handy.  I also keep a specific set of small scissors just for cutting tape or anything sticky, so my good ones don’t end up getting all gunged up.
Other than craft stash, do you collect anything or have any other hobbies?
I love reading and there are books all over our house, I think the bathroom is probably the only book-free room. I also have quite a large hug of teddy bears – that’s probably no surprise to anyone, considering my user name! To save on space I try only to buy really small ones nowadays, like the tiny Little Gem one sitting on an ink cube in my profile picture.
What do you like most about the festive season?
I love the sparkliness of it all – everything from fairy lights to the frosty shimmer across the garden in the morning, and of course, the glitter and gems on the cards.
Do you have a favourite project you would like to show us a picture of and why is it your favourite?
I think everything I make is my favourite project – until I finish the next one. I love my holiday scrapbooks because of the fabulous memories they bring back when I look at them, but I suppose my all-time favourite is one I did with photos of my Mum. She has Alzheimer’s Disease and lives in a nursing home nearby, and I made an album starting with a photo of her at only 10 weeks old, and going right through her life with pictures of family and friends. She still remembers some of the people and occasions in it. This is one of my favourite pages, of Mum when she was about 20 years old.

And just for fun – Â
Favourite biscuit - soft-baked raisin cookies
What annoys you most? - shop assistants who are more interested in talking to each other than serving the customers
Favourite colour - pink
Favourite chocolate bar/crisps – any flavour of crisps
Gold or Silver? – definitely silver
Crocs or slippers? – neither! I wear flip-flops in the house in the summer, and big fluffy socks in the winter
Thanks Nicki - its lovely getting to know you a little more and your photos are gorgeous. I know where you are coming from with the shop assistants too! haha
