New DT Member – A little about me!…by Susanne

Hi all Fiskarettes, I am Susanne and I am really excited to be chosen to be part of the design team for the next 3 months and look forward to inspiring you with my creations with the wonderful Fiskars products, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

I’m a 36 year old office manager, cake decorator, wife and mum of 2, and have been crafting in one form or another for most of those years, starting with my first scrapbooks at primary school which are still safely stored in my mums loft.

I started scrapbooking for real about 7 years ago when I decided to record my family tree into something more than lines, names and dates. Once my 2 children came along a few years later, it became an obsession of recording my pregnancies, their births and each milestone thereafter. I’m quickly running out of space to store all the albums, my poor husband is having to extend into our loft!!!!

With a love of fashion jewellery, I recently decided to embark on making it myself, and have been experimenting with different techniques – I hope to be able to share my experiments with you, whether its for wearing or to embellish my scrapbooks.

My biggest crafting challenge was to cross stitch my entire wedding stationery set, including invitations, place cards, orders of service and menus. As well as making my own decorations, thank you gifts and cake – it certainly gave the day a personal touch.

A few of my favourite things at the moment must start with adding bling at every opportunity, in scrapbooking, card making or jewellery, I love a bit of sparkle. I am having a love affair with circles at the moment too and have also been trying to leave blank space on my layouts which I find hard as I’ve always got so many photos to add! I recently bought myself a scanner and have been scanning my grandparents old 35mm slides and printing off the best ones to scrap, its been great fun.
