SJ

Hello!
I have another project for you today, but this time, there isn’t a border punch in sight (my most used Fiskars tool by far!)

Instead, I have created a cushion using fabric scraps.

Tools used:
Fiskars Scissors – by far the best sewing scissors ever!

Fiskars Rotary Cutter – cuts clean and crisp lines and edges with one simple roll.

Fiskars Cutting Mat.

Fiskars Sewing Multi Tool.

To make the cushion, measure the size of the cushion pad you intend to fill it with, and add about an inch either side for seam allowance.

There are lots of online tutorials for how to make an envelope close cushion cover, but really it is so simple! It is just one long length of fabric (google it!!!)

I measured the area that would be on show at the front – and then grab your fabric scraps. I find it hard to throw away fabric, and have a bag packed of scraps which come in handy for projects like this.

I cut a simple freestyle tree trunk out of beige felt, and straight stitched it to the calico. I then free cut some random leaves from the scraps. Gather about 5 different patterns that match (ish!) the more diverse the better!

Then using small zigzag stitch, sew the leaves on, I didn’t plan mine at all, the leaves just happened naturally, I really recommend not stressing too much about perfection, as it’s all about the process :) Enjoy it!

Once you have it all stitched finish the cushion closure and stuff!

I added a button at the back to hold the envelope entrance closed.

Fun!
