Faux pearl jewellery

For the times when you are in a hurry but still feel like being glammed up a little,  why not make yourself one of these quick and easy faux pearl beaded jewellery sets.  Easy to slip on and off, and no fiddly catches to bother with.

You will need

Beading elastic

86 x 5mm round faux pearl beads

A mini bulldog clip

Fiskars scissors

Ruler

glue

secure thread with clip

Cut a length of beading elastic approx 11″ long (this allows 7″ for bracelet length and 2″ at both ends for easy tying)  and also a length 22″ long (allowing 18″ for necklace length and 2″ at both ends for easy tying)  Attach a mini bulldog clip to one end of the shorter piece of elastic to stop your beads from falling off while you thread them.

thread beads

Thread 26 of your beads onto the beading elastic.

tie the elastic

Remove the bulldog clip and tie the ends of your elastic (right over left and then left over right) to make a knot,  keeping the beads as close together as possible. Apply glue to the knotted area to strengthen it and allow to dry.  Trim off the excess elastic and push one of the beads gently over the knotted area to conceal it.

To create your beaded necklace follow the step above but thread 60 of your beads onto the longer length of elastic before tying off.  Your set is now complete.

Little girls love to be like Mum and dress up too so why not make them a set as well.

For the set below you will need all of the supplies above but replace the beads with:-

30 irridescent pink 5mm beads

30 irridescent purple 5mm beads

Cut a 9″ length of beading elastic (5″ for bracelet length, the other remains for tying) and thread 18 beads alternating the colours.

Cut an 18″ length of beading elastic (14″ for necklace length, the other remains for tying) and thread 42 beads alternating the colours.

Follow the instructions above for tying and completing the set.

girly bead set

Why not share your jewellery making with your girls and allow them to create their own.  They could choose their own colour beads and make up their own designs and look glam just like Mum :)

Please always supervise younger children while creating beaded jewellery and remember cords and beads present a choking hazard.

Happy creating

Chris xx

The left over right and right over left reminded me of my girlguide days..lol.
The pearl set would be great for bridesmaids.
you could also use them both instead of ribbon when wrapping a little gift …2 gifts in 1.
and great idea for a girls party they all get to make a set to take home.
thankyou Chris I received my star of the week tool i chose.
putting it in my crafting travel bag.
hope everyone is having a great day.

Remember when you could get candy ones and you just nibbled off a bead when you got hungry? – or am I showing my age?!
These are lovely Chris and so easy to make too.
