DT Project – Jewellery Hanger
by susanne
Hi Fiskarettes, it’s me again. I have been making a lot of new jewellery recently and it’s all becoming tangled together in my drawer. I needed to come up with a way to hang the necklaces where they will be kept separate but didn’t take up too much space.
I was watching a shopping channel the other night where they were selling tie racks, and then it came to me – hang my necklaces onto a coat hanger but cover it so they don’t get tangled up in my wardrobe – so hey presto the Jewellery Hanger.

I started with a standard white plastic coat hanger, 2 pieces of 12×12 patterned paper, Fiskars paper trimmer and Fiskars Effervescence border punch.
First I folded a 1cm flap on the top of both pieces of patterned paper and stuck them together making sure the side of the paper I wanted was on the outside. I then covered this top section with pink ribbon.

Next I used the Fiskars Effervescence border punch to cut the bottom of each 12×12 piece of paper and then cut lots of strips of coordinating papers and used the same border punch to cut the edges. I stuck these across one of the pieces of 12×12 paper, alternating the colours and adding ribbons.

Then I used matching flowers and stuck these on top of the decorative border with 3D foam.
Once the hanger was decorated I slipped it over the bottom section of the coat hanger. To secure it I made 2 slits either side of the hanger and slid more pink ribbon up from inside making sure each end of the ribbon went either side of the hanger. I then tied this off in a bow.

Once opened I was then able to attach all my necklaces around the hanger and the cover would fold back down and protect them when hanging in the wardrobe.

What an ingenious idea! Looks lovely too…x
A lovely Jewellery hanger…it’s difficult to find ones in the shop that hold longer necklaces.
