Brayered Brilliance!
by ClareGood Afternoon Fiskarettes!
It was fun chatting with a couple of you Fiskarettes last night, but I would love there to be more of you joining us! I want it to be like a virtual party! We will be having another Chat night again, but I’m not sure when that will be as I am in a pantomime next week and we have rehearsals galore!
Today I wanted to share with you another card I’ve made with the same stamp set as yesterday’s card, but the other stamp on the sheet. I’ve also used a technique I haven’t used for ages – brayering. I blame Barbara Grey! I keep watching her, and thinking I must make time to try it again, but never get around to it. It’s so much fun, and works perfectly with this type of block stamp. So let’s get started!
Supplies
Fiskars Goodies
Other Supplies
Ranger Clear Resist Ink Pad
Kaleidacolor Rainbow dye ink pad – Cappuccino delight
Clarity Card silk cardstock
white gel pen
Kaisercraft stamp – thinking of you set
brown pearlescent cardstock
gold mirri board
wide cream organza ribbon
Sakura glitter pen
7 x5 card blank
Recipe
1. take the A6 silk cardstock and stamp the flower top left and bottom right corner. As this is a resist ink pad, and used on glossy cardstock, I didn’t need to add any clear embossing powder. Take the ink pad and load up the brayer by passing over the ink pad several times.
2. Remove any excess ink from the brayer by ‘doing a wheelie’ with the brayer onto some scrap paper. This means passing the brayer over the paper, allowing it to spin in the air at the end. Then start doing wheelies over the silk cardstock. Keep working until there are no harsh lines and the colours have blended.
3. Wipe over the cardstock with a piece of kitchen towel. this will remove and excess ink from the flower images and ‘buff up’ the silk card. Add highlights to the flower image and swirls with a Sakura glitter pen, and a white like and dots around the edge of the card with a white gel pen.
4. Stamp the greeting onto the bottom left corner as shown with Stayzon ink. Mount onto gold, then brown pearlescent cardstock .
5. Take a 7 x 5″ white card blank and attach wide cream organza ribbon around the centre of the card. Tie with a knot to the right hand side. Finally, attach the image panel to the card blank with 3D foam pads as shown.
Well, I hope you like it! I really enjoyed trying out some techniques that I have not had the chance to do for a while! I’m off to a friends house tonight for a little drinks and nibbles gathering, so I’m looking forward to that .
Have a great Saturday night! Love, and crafty hugs, Clare x

What's Hot

Beautiful – the effect reminds me of beautiful table linen, but more colorful. I imagine this would make a very nice notebook cover as well.
I didn’t know there was a clear ink resist pad, I shall be adding this to my wish list:)
This is beautiful! I have never tried brayering before, I keep meaning to give it a go, need to get a brayer 1st!

Thanks for all your lovely comments! Jane, make sure you get one made from rubber, not the ones made form what looks like a lino material. The ones made with lino material are great for letterpressing and printing ink, but not where you want a smooth finish. Search speedball brayer in a search engine, there are some great bargains coming up at the moment! x
Ooh! that is so gorgeous! love those colours! Like Jane, I keep meaning to have a go – I will remember your advice on what brayer to buy – thanks Clare
