Card – Gearing up to go…
by Clare
I must admit to not making a ‘male’ card very often. I think I miss the opportunity to add flowers and pretty things somehow!
However, I had previously bought an old map from a local secondhand book shop for something like 50p and this seemed the perfect paper to use for the backing paper of the card. Together with a Fiskars border Punch, some mountboard Gears and Tissue Tape it seemed just enough to put together a card for a man!

Fiskars Products Used:
Other Products Used:
- Map paper
- Mountboard die-cut gears
- Tim Holtz Tissue Tape
- Distress Ink
- Distress Stain
- Viva Decor Inka Gold
- Stamp sentiment
Instructions:
- Trim the map paper to fit your card blank. Ink the edges of the map and card blank with a Distress Ink pad. Attach map paper to card blank.
- Colour the gears using Viva Decor Inka Gold in a combination of silver and graphite. Allow to dry and buff to a shine. Use sharp scissors to cut the edge of one to add to the edge of the card.
- Stick a piece of tissue tape, the width of your card, to a craft sheet. Cover with Distress stain and blot excess.
- Using a piece of scrap paper and the Notebook Border Punch, punch out a border.
- Again on scrap paper, ink your sentiment and create a banner effect on one side.
- Assemble together on the card blank as shown.

I keep road atlases when we update to a new one and use them on cards and stuff – great for personalising to the recipient as you can choose an appropriate page! Yours looks fab, the gears are a perfect choice with the map!
