DT project – gift wrap…
by Steph Baxter
WOW! I can’t believe it’s almost September…where has the time gone?! And you know what that means, don’t you? Yep, it’s my last DT post here on the Fiskarettes blog :’( I’ve had SUCH a blast these last three months making lots of things with wonderful Fiskars products! Thank you SO much to Caroline and Jayne for giving me the great opportunity to be a part of this amazing team, and for their never-ending support throughout my time on the team. And also, a massive thank you to all you fab Fiskarettes for checking out my projects and leaving comments, and for posting your own super inspiring stuff!
Right…on to the project!
I’ve got a lot of christenings, birthdays and weddings coming up in the next month, which means I’ll be having to get lots of little gifts. Now, I like to give my gifts a hand-made feel if I can. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that I have to make the gift itself. Oh no. What about the gift wrap? Here’s some super easy instructions to get creative with your gift wrapping…

1. Using your Fiskars trimmer, cut a piece of patterned paper down to just a bit larger than the gift you’re going to be wrapping. (I put my gift in a little Kraft gift box from Paperchase, as it’s easier to wrap that way.) Wrap the gift with the paper.

2. Trim two strips of cardstock of differing colours, making one slightly thinner in width that the other. Punch each strip along both long edges with your favourite Fiskars border punches (I used the Boundary Water and Effervescence border punches). Glue the thinner strip on top of the thicker strip, and adhere around the middle of the gift.
3. Tie ribbon or baker’s twine around the gift, and secure in a bow on the top of the gift.

4. Create a fun accent to stick on top by punching out some shapes from different coloured cardstock using your favourite Fiskars squeeze punches and layering the shapes one on top of the other (I used the Extra Large Scalloped Square and the Medium Star and Large Star punches). Use a glue dot to adhere over the top of the bow on the top of your gift. Alternatively, you could use the accent you’ve made as a gift tag.

And that’s it. Pretty quick, super easy, and very fun! I think it just makes a gift look extra special, don’t you agree?
Well, that’s all from me! I can’t wait to see the new DT…I hope they enjoy their time on the team as much as I have, and I’m sure you’ll love seeing all their fun projects!

Great idea to use the border punches for gift wrap, will definitely give it a go, lovely project!
I do like Layering up Fiskars Border Punches & I love that the ‘Boundary water’ punch is great for not so watery projects
Lovely wrapping ideas. Could work really well for Christmas pressies too.

Gorgeous Steph!
I always plan to do fancy wrapping, for Christmas especially, but so often leave it to the last minute that I don’t always have the time, but I really must as it looks lovely…x
