Fathers Day Challenge - Caroline

by Jayne & Caroline

Fathers Day card1

For this Fathers Day challenge I made a card for my children to give to their Dad.

I used 6×6 paper by Blonde Moments - Friends Junction.

Fiskars tools used:

Paper Trimmer

Stamps - Alphabet

Deckle Scissors

Hole Hand Punch

Heart Hand Punch

How to:

Father Day how to1

-  I cut the base paper to size, using the Trimmer, and then cut out the pieces of the paper that I wanted to place on the card.

Father Day how to2

-  Using the Hold Hand Punch and the Heart Hand Punch, I embellished the top of the base paper.   I love this effect and its so easy with these little hand punches - available in different sized holes and different designs.

Father Day how to3

-  I sanded down the edges of the decorated piece of cut out paper, using a little paper scuffer.

Father Day how to4

-  I used some old book pages to decorate the card, and always find it better to use the Deckle Edged Scissors to help with the torn and ragged look.  The scissors give you a head start as they create a non-uniform edge.

-  I placed my pieces onto the base card and sewed into place.

-  I stuck my old book page under the top of the base card so it could be seen through the holes.

Father Day how to6

-  I cut out some stars from the design off one of the Friends Junction papers and stamped letters on each to spell ‘DAD’ using Alphabet clear acrylic stamps.  I attached them to the card using sticky pads.

- I attached a Prima flower through the card base with a brad.

-I was then able to stick the whole card design onto the card blank.  Sometimes I sew the card base to the card blank but I wanted to attach a brad and do different styles of stitching and its sometimes easier not to sew through the card blank too.

-  I then curled and tore some of the edges - I do this by either using a scissor blade or my own nail.

And the card is done, ready for the kids to add there own bits inside.  I know that if I left them to make a card then it would be a rush job on Saturday evening, lol.  This way its piece of mind for me… :-)
