DT Project – Inch perfect by Di
by Di O
I’ve been dying to use the Fiskars 1″ Square Squeeze punch so for this project I have really made the most of it.
As I love chipboard so much I had do use some again so firstly I cut some pieces as follows:

1 piece 6″ x 7 1/4″
4 pieces 1″ x 4 3/4″
4 pieces 1″ x 3 1/2″
20 pieces 1″ square

I took 8 of the 1″ square pieces and glued them together to make a deeper square. I did the same with the longer 1″ pieces so I had 2 of each.
I used the squeeze punch and punched out 12 squares from co-ordinating patterned paper. It’s great to be able to turn the punch so you can position the paper and see what you are cutting out. I did this for the flowery pieces.

I inked the edges of the remaining 12 1″ square chipboard pieces with black ink and glued the patterned pieces on to the top.

I covered the large piece of chippie with some pink Basic Grey paper.

I then took the first pieces that I had glued together and liberally coated them with texture paste. I then spritzed an acrylic stamp with water and pressed it into the paste to leave an imprint of the stamp. For the four 1″ square pieces I used one of the heart stamps from the Fiskars Love stamp set.

When it had dried I first painted the pieces in dark brown acrylic paint. Then with a cloth or sponge randomly dab some pale green acrylic in places over the top. Finish off by dabbing some silver metal paint – I used Viva Decor silver for this.

Glue these 8 pieces to the outside to make a frame as shown and lightly draw pencil lines as a guide for your 1″ squares in the centre.

Decorate your squares as you wish and glue them in place within the frame.
Papers by Basic Grey, Dragonfly from Tando Creative, other items were just in my craft stash.

(you know who you are)
Love the way you used inches i’ve yet to try these.
Wow Di…this is a beautiful piece of work! I do hope you have it hanging up somewhere XXX
Beautiful Di. Can I ask what texture paste you used? I love the effect and would like to try this out myself.

Stunning, I love the way you’ve showcased different techniques.
I’d like to try this myself and would like to know what texture paste you used.
This is gorgeous! I am really into inchies at the moment and have made a LO with them. It was my sister who got in a right pickle with the texture paste when trying to stamp into it. Not sure if it was too much water or not enough? What about the thickness of the paste? Any advice would be gratefully received. A fab project! x
Thanks so much for your lovely comments…sorry I’ve not replied before, things have been a bit manic here!!
I used Reeves 3D Paste which comes in a 200ml squeezable tube. I’m afraid a friend bought it for me so I don’t know where it came from but I would imagine any good art shop would stock it.
I spread the paste on about 1mm – 2mm…ish thick and found just one spritz of water on the stamp before each stamping was enough and I wiped the stamp over with a damp cloth each time too. Don’t push the stamp too hard into the paste either, but it is a bit of trial and error to get the technique right.
Do ask any questions you have and I will try to answer them
Just gorgeous. Another one here who will be having a go at this. Thank you so much for all the detailed info.
wow simply stunning Di
