Seaside charm1

Monday Challenge – Seaside…..

I made a fun bag charm…..which my daughter has already declared she would like!

The seaside shapes are cut out of shrink plastic, and I cut these out using the ShapeCutter and Seaside Template.  The ShapeCutter did not cut all the way through the shrink plastic, as its tough stuff, and so I did need to finish it off with Scissors.

I then roughly coloured the shapes using Copic pens and punch a hole in each shape using the Hand Punch-Circle.

Using my heat tool I shrunk the plastic – I love this bit!  Don’t panic when using shrink plastic – it will curl in on itself and look a right mess before straightening out again.  I hold the shrink plastic with a wooden pen and then when its almost straight again I pop it quickly onto a heat-proof surface and place something flat on top of it – an ink pad base or lid, or acrylic block is ideal.  This helps to flatten the whole design.   Then I heat the little area that was held by the peg before, and its done!

Most shrink plastics shrink by x7, so the ShapeCutter Template sizes were ideal for this bag charm.  When they are shrunk the colour intensifies too, so don’t colour too deeply.  The Copic pens, or similar, are ideal as they give a watercolour colour initially and then deepen just right, when shrunk.

I then attached to a chain, along with lots of beads, and attached to a swivel clip.  A great addition to one of your summer bags and so quick and easy to do!

Have fun with this weeks challenge……… :)
