Morning Fiskarettes, Hope you had a crafty weekend
Today I’m having a go at the Monday Challenge & showing you a little tin & book I have made. I think it counts as a textured project because the lid has a Lizard skin type Texture on it.(sorry the photos don’t show this too great as they were taken in the evening with a Flash)
The mini book will be filled with photos of my step Neice as she was bored at a family wedding so myself, daughter & her decided to go off for 20 mins and have our own photo shoot. I haven’t put these in as I haven’t had permission to publish.
You will need : Small tin, Gesso, Fiskars ‘Leather’ Textured plate, Various inks, Cardstock, Fiskars Scalloped Square Squeeze Punch, Eyelet Setter, Ribbon, Pin, Fiskars XL Tag Squeeze Punch, Adhesives, Stickers (tiny), Film strip (opt).
- Take the Tin and spread Gesso onto the top…leave to dry & do another coat the same.
- Whilst the second coat is still wet Press the Fiskars Textured plate into the Gesso. The tin is curved so I had to press parts again that weren’t textured. Wipe the Plate straight away. Leave tin to dry for a few hours or better still over night.

- Rub Green & Brown ink over the top & then rub really lightly some black rubbing into the cracks as in following photo…

- Punch a little tag using Fiskars Squeeze Punch. Add a title using tiny sticker Alphas. I’ve also tied a ribbon bow & threaded a pin into the Tag. The tag was backed with a piece of Film Strip & glued onto the Tin using strong glue.
To make the little book~

- Punch Scalloped Squares using the Fiskars Scalloped Square Squeeze Punch & glue them to some Cardstock leaving a gap inbetween each one as following photo…The gap is going to be the part you bind the book with.

- Trim the scalloped shapes leaving Cardstock on one edge like in following photo (i have used a piece of patterned card for the covers but punched in same way (not shown_….

- Punch two holes using Eyelet Setter in the binding part (brown cardstock edge). Thread ribbon to bind the book finishing off with a bow. Make sure your covers are on the outside
Add a title & photos. - That’s it, Just pop the book in the Tin :)

What's Hot

Fab tin Jayne – love the crackle effect…x
This is such a cute little project. The tin looks fab with the textured lid. Does gesso hold on tin ok? I was never sure whether it would flake off over time.
The little book inside is so sweet, a perfect place to keep pics of your niece. xx
