Goodly morning peeps… I am sad today because this is my last DT project… now, who stole the last three months??? I cannot believe it has gone so quickly already… and before I waffle on about the arty thing I have made, I would just like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who has not only made me feel very welcome and part of this fab community, but also to Jayne, Caroline and Fiskars for allowing me to represent them and their grand products… Anyways… on with the step by step… I shall be wiping the tears away if I carry :O))
So, today I have been playing with the Fiskars ShapeBoss Spring stencil. You know, I have had so much fun using these stencils with texture paste and I have made a canvas piece with some metal embellishments.
STEP 1
Prepare your canvas with a coat of Gesso – or if you have a pre-primed one you can just get cracking straight away. Pop your stencil over the canvas so the pattern you want to use is placed where you want it. I used the opaque part of the stencil as it is easier to see the pattern.

STEP 2
Using a palette knife, spread texture paste over the patterny bit… I spread it over and then add extra paste over the top in parts so the effect will be different depths. Carefully remove the stencil, I have found that lifting it off in one movement is the best way as it doesn’t smudge the paste. Immediately wipe the excess paste off your ShapeBoss stencil and then repeat the process if you want texture elsewhere. It should look like below…

STEP 3
Dry the texure paste, the paste I used can be heat dried and bubbles up a bit when you heat it. Once dried, I then used my finger to spread a little more paste onto the rest of the canvas to add a bit more texture… then using a bold stamp that has been spritzed with water, stamp into the paste. If you are using a stamp, scrub any excess paste off it straight away so it doesn’t ruin your impression. Again, dry off the texture paste and then use some Cut & Dry foam and paint a base colour over the top of the paste. You can leave your paste in it’s own colour but I preferred to have a blank base to add colours to.

STEP 4
Using Cut & Dry, add colour to the canvas, dry it and then add more colour over. I found that my colours were a bit too bold for the look I wanted, so I just used my fingertip to spread a little of the base colour over the top to tone it down a bit.
STEP 5
I made some metal flowers using a six petalled stamp which I cut to make a five petal dimensional flower. Adding studs to the centres and making wire spirals for decoration, I added these and a sentiment to the canvas and there it is, finished :O))

I hope you like this piece… the photo’s don’t really do the metal justice as I had to use a flash but hopefully you will be able to see the texture I managed to achieve using just a humble ShapeBoss stencil. Thanks for looking… TTFN .. Hels x
