Good Afternoon Fiskarettes,
READ MORE for a New Project!
How are you all this morning? I hope that you will bear with me over the next couple of weeks here on the Fiskarettes blog. I had carpal tunnel decompression surgery on Tuesday and it’s not as easy as I thought it would be, keeping up with everything. I had my dominant hand operated on 7 years ago, but I don’t recall it being this bad! Rest assured though I made four cards to share with you before the op, so all that’s left now is to type up the instructions…I could be some time!
Today I wanted to share a card with you that I have designed with the Fiskarettes Sketch Challenge in mind. If you want to join in, take a look at this post here. Here’s the sketch…
and here’s what I did with it…
I didn’t really want to add circles or flowers, and at first I couldn’t think of anything to put, but then it came to me in a flash of inspiration. Rosettes! read on to find out how this card came together.
Supplies
Fiskars Goodies
Fiskars Effervescence border punch
Fiskars Apron Lace border Punch
Fiskars Soft touch spring action microtip scissors
Other Products
buttons in various sizes and colours
fabric and epoxy brads
patterned paper free from Simply Homemade Magazine.
Scoring board and tool
blue polkadot ribbon
Kraft lined cardstock (Papermania)
hot glue gun
rub on greeting
Recipe
1. Cover a 7 x 5 ” card blank with red polka dot patterned paper. Trim kraft cardstock to measure 13 x 8.5cm and punch the short edge with the effervescence border punch. Attach a 0.5cm strip of green patterned paper to the left side as shown, ten add ribbon to the long length of the card panel, tucking underneath on the left side, and feeding though a slit in the card on the right. Tie with a knot to the right side, and fix to the centre of the card blank with foam pads.
2. Starting with a 12 inch length of green patterned paper, cut to measure 4 x 31cm. Punch with the brackets border punch. Using a socring board and tool, score on each peak and trough of the bracket, then told like an accordian. Attach the ends together using hot glue. Punch a small circle from the same patterned paper, and add hot glue to the circle. Place the rosette onto the circle, making sure that the centre of the rosette gather to the middle of the circle and the rosette is equal.
3. Repeat for the other two rosettes, one strip of paper measuring 3 x 31 cm (punched with the effervescence punch) and the other 2.5 x 31 cm (punched with the apron lace punch). This will then make rosettes of different sizes.
4. Add the rosettes to the kraft panel, using hot glue or other strong adhesive. Add brads to the rosettes by putting hot glue into the centre and then inserting the metal fixings into the centre.
5. Finally, add buttons of differing sizes and colours around the rosettes, and add a rub on greeting to finish.
I really hope you like it! I must say, when I was making it, it didn’t seem to be coming together at all and I wasn’t very happy with how it was looking, but then all of a sudden it just worked. It’s funny how that happens, isn’t it?
Anyway, going to rest my hand now!
Love and crafty hugs, Clare x

Hi Clare, you make sure that you take it easy until you are all recovered – no one will mind if you post a bit less or if your spelling goes odd (mine does that without surgery!) I shall be sending you lots of good vibes. take care Anna x
