Fabric roses

A little while ago I discovered a way of making pretty little fabric roses. They’re simple to make and don’t require many supplies. I use my Fiskars circle template, a wet adhesive, narrow strips of fabric (about 1-2cm wide), scissors & a pencil.

First draw a circle on the cardstock & cut it out. Apply a very thin layer of glue to one side of the circle and, starting at the centre, press one end of the fabric strip into the glue. Next start to twist the fabric and at the same time wind it around the centre of the flower, pressing into the glue as you go.

If you reach the end of the fabric & your rose still isn’t large enough, tuck a second strip of fabric in where you finished off and continue until the rose is the desired size.

Once the glue is dry, trim off the excess card & apply the rose to your project. I sometimes like to cut petals from green fabric to finish them off.
